TODAY’s GGG Show> Cameron Champ at Safeway Open @ Silverado

Join the Golf, Grape & Grub Show at the PGA Tour’s first event of the new 2017-18 season at the Safeway Open @ Silverado Golf Resort & Spa.

Cameron Champ chats with us about playing with other noted bombers John Daly & Long Drive champ Jamie Sadlowski.

We tee it up at 3 PM (PT) on FB Live. As always, these podcasts remain posted on both my page & the GGG one.

Cam has had a remarkable summer by making the cut at the US Open where he lead the entire field in driving distance.  He also won the Trans Mississippi Am & recently played for the victorious USA team in the Walker Cup @ Los Angeles CC.

Cam will graduate early from Texas A&M this December and then will embark on what should be a GRAPE career as a tour pro.  He’s playing as an amateur in the Safeway Open.

Global GGG Show Starts Friday @ The Walker Cup

Global GGG Show Starts Friday @ The Walker Cup

The best amateurs of the United States and Europe compete this weekend in the 46th playing of the Walker Cup @ Los Angeles CC.  It’s the amateur version of the Ryder Cup and the Golf, Grape & Grub Show will be there to cover it all.  The USA seeks revenge for the loss in 2015 @ Royal Lytham & St Annes GC.

The GGG Show will do multiple shows over the weekend, starting tomorrow on FB Live.  If you already haven’t, please friend either myself or the GGG page for more details. As always these shows will be posted as podcasts on both pages.

We look forward to catching up with previous GGG Show guests Cameron Champ, senior @ Texas A&M and recent Stanford grad Maverick McNealy.

We begin tomorrow afternoon with Jeff Champ, Cameron’s dad with family and friends in their RV. Jeff’s dad Mack will be there to root his grandson on despite still recovering from kidney transplant surgery.  Mack gave Cameron his start in the game with little plastic clubs at the age of two. Proud Pops!!

8/26-Global GGG Show> Lady Long Heather Manfredda Going for the Belt

8/26-Global GGG Show> Lady Long Heather Manfredda Going for the Belt

Sluggers in baseball and golf have long shared the phrase “Chicks dig the long ball.”  Now the Gals hit it long too, really really, really long. Heather Manfredda (LeMaster) of Bay Oaks CC south of Houston is a Long Drive Champion and determined to win her title back that she captured in 2013.

Heather moved south to Texas after marrying her hubbee & caddee Mark. Let’s hope Harvey is gentle to her and everyone down there.  Previously she wowed all the folks around Sacramento & Granite Bay GC with her length.

Heather joins us “live” this Saturday @ 11:30 AM (CT) for the Golf, Grape & Grub Show on FB Live. We also chat about the record breaking Solheim Cup, the Fed Ex Playoffs, the Presidents Cup and Walker Cup which features long ball am Cameron Champ & Maverick McNealy.

Lady Long is on the countdown to September 6th at the Win Star World Casino & Resort for the World Long Drive Championships. Win Star is located some 80 miles north of DFW, just across the Red River in Oklahoma.

Heather and her powerful swings produce drives of 330 to nearly 400 yards.  Thass no typo Guys!!  Oh yea, if that’s not enough, she owns 15 world titles in horseback riding. Giddee up!!

Global GGG Show> Majors & Cups, #1 Am + Another “Grape” Book on Napa

Global GGG Show> Majors & Cups, #1 Am + Another “Grape” Book on Napa

There’s more top tier golf on the sked for us golf fans, the 99th PGA Championship at Quail Hollow plus, the Solheim Cup from Des Moines CC and the US Amateur @ Riviera CC.

Pam Wood & I tee it up Saturday on the Golf, Grape & Grub Show @ 11 AM(CT) on FB Live.

Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson will be playing in their 100th Major. There have only been 12 players in the game that have done that.  If it’s horses for courses, then Rory is the big favorite with Jordan Spieth right on his heels. Can Jordan be the youngest ever to win the Grand Slam?

Next week the Solheim Cup & US Am highlight the scene. Gotta love it when the captains are Juli Inkster & Annika Sorenstam.

Speaking of love, we have to throw some Giant applause to the new  #1 ranked amateur in the world, Cameron Champ of Sacramento.  Cam has had a  great summer where he burst on the Global stage by tying for 10th at the US Open.  He has gone on to win the Trans Mississippi Am, was medalist at the North & South @ Pinehurst and qualified for the round of 16 at the Pacific Coast Am. Next up is the US Am & Walker Cup.

Cam has one more year left at Texas A&M and then lookout tour. If you don’t know, Cam is longer by 20+ yards than the longest of tour pros. Gig ’em!!  Everyone digs the long ball!!!

Marcus Marquez is the author of the invitingly urgent book 100 Things to do in Napa Before You Die.  He’ll join us in the second half of the show. He has been on all sides of the food, wine and hospitality industry in Napa Valley and Northern California.  After launching and representing premium wine brands, Marcus partnered to create Goose & Gander restaurant in St. Helena, then moved on to co-create Brasswood Estate.

With his new book Marcus seeks to illuminate both the classic experiences of Napa Valley and the lesser known hidden gems.  His experience in the food and wine industry and his vision for the future of Brasswood Estate, fold nicely into his overall take on Napa Valley.

On a separate but exciting note, harvest has already started!!
